Family Pictures

Today we met with my extended family to take pictures of us all together. The last time we took family pictures was in Spring of 2007. And before that... never. :) We have added two family members since 2007 and, of course, several members have grown and changed a bit. :) I was excited to take a big group picture because one niece and one nephew would be leaving in a month to go off to college out of state and this was the only day the whole family could get together before they left.

A few hours before the pictures I heard Kent III in the bathroom and when I walked into the room to check on him I found him with a pair of scissors and small pile of his hair on the counter.

Really?! REALLY? Hours before family pictures and that is what he decided to do? :) Seriously, that kid... I think he was just playing around in the bathroom and saw some scissors and decided to cut something but the only thing around he could find to cut was his hair. (I have found him on more than one occasion cutting up paper and taping it back together in new, more interesting configurations, so I am usually very careful about making sure scissors are put away, I honestly don't know what a pair of scissors was doing in the bathroom.) At least he didn't cut it to the scalp and at least his hair is long enough that the small amount he did cut will blend nicely with the rest of his golden locks. :)

I am not too upset (ok, I was for a few minutes, but am not now), I just have to roll my eyes at the antics he gets into. Neither of the girls ever cut their hair when they were little. Each child is different though, right? :) I just have to remember I need to watch this one like a hawk watches his dinner. :)

As for family pictures... they went ok. Everyone was great and we had fun while taking them. I especially appreciated Kent's brother Paul who came with us and hung out so he could take the pictures and get the babies to look at the camera. However, I am a little disappointed in the pictures. OK, a lot. We went to a park I have never taken pictures at before, the sun was going down and I didn't have the settings on my camera where they should have been. The pictures came out grainy, not crisp like I wish they had. The sun on the mountain is too bright and we sat in a spot that had sun coming through the leaves onto people. Oh well, a not so great picture of all our family is better then no picture, right? :) I keep trying to console myself by saying that but so far, I still just feel bad...
