On Monday, on our way to reading tutor at my parent's house, the van died right after we got off the freeway exit. Luckily it was within 5 minutes of my parent's house and within 2 minutes of Kent's work. I called Kent and he arranged for the mechanic of the company he works for to come check out the van, although that guy couldn't get away for another 15 minutes or so. I asked Kent to come pick us up so I could take his car to reading tutor and he kindly agreed to do so.
I needed to return some tomato cages to my sister Sallie so I had brought them with us in the van, however, as I was loading them into the trunk of the car one of them slipped out of the stack and landed right on my toenail and cracked it!
To say the least: "Ow!"
After the blinding pain subsided the first thing I thought was, "Oh no! My pretty pedicure!"
I know, I know...priorities... :)
So, rather then just dropping Kent off at his work, we had to make a stop so he could doctor my toe. By the time we got to his work, my sandal was completely soaked in blood. Ugh. Kent bandaged me up like a pro though and we finally made it to reading tutor, albeit 1/2 an hour late. :)
The mechanic hasn't figured out what is wrong with the van yet but luckily we have the truck I can drive around until the van gets fixed. :)
My toe Monday night after the accident:

And today (Wednesday) the part of my toenail that got crushed fell off:

I think this is the universe's way of giving me a hard lesson in vanity. :) (I only got to have my pretty, pretty toes for 9 days...)
*sigh* Oh well, c'est la vie, right? At least it is such for my life. :)

Owie baby! Your pedicure was pretty too! :(
Ouch! That looks like it hurt. Hey you know what I do when I post a whole bunch on one day, I schedule the posts to go out one at a time on different days. So there is a post every day for 6 days as opposed to 6 posts in one day. There is an option at the bottom of where you type up your posts that you can change the date. I love all the posts you wrote to day. I miss you!
