May 7th

Today I had my two week check-up with my doctor. Nothing has happened naturally so we were given the choice of scheduling a D&C or taking some pills that would basically induce labor and cause the tissue to pass.

Kent and I really didn't know what to do. On the one hand surgery would be clean and quick but could have severe complications (however small the possibilities may be). On the other hand the pills wouldn't be major surgery but if I took the pills and there were problems (hemorrhaging, etc.) I would need to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency D&C.

We really went back and forth because the good vs bad for each seemed to weigh almost identically against each other. We finally decided to get the prescription for the pills (and the pain meds) and ponder and pray about what to do. Our doctor is actually going to be on call at the hospital starting tomorrow and will be there all weekend. He told us if we wanted to schedule the surgery for Friday we could call him up until 5:00 p.m. tonight and he would be able to get me in tomorrow. If we hadn't made up our minds by then we could schedule the surgery on Friday for Saturday.

Kent and I both prayed about what to do and felt our best option was the pills. And if there are complications, at least our doctor is on call so he would be performing the surgery.

The plan is for Kent to go in early to work tomorrow and then come home a few hours later. That way he can get payroll taken care of but be home in case I need anything and can take care of Kent III. (Our doctor said the results can vary from slight discomfort for an hour or two to incredible pain all day.)
